Scottish Highlands in January

These brilliant shots were taken by a guest at our cottage in January. John Taggart and his wife had a mixed week weather wise, but that does not stop one of the leading photographers in Northern Ireland at all. Me, I would not have taken the camera out of its case, given the weather they had. But these shots are lovely, aren't they?
(I wonder if his wife is like mine? "Oh, do we have to stop again. you won't be long will you?)
His professional website is at John Taggart, Antrim

Some of the most beautiful photographs of the Glen and Moor I've ever seen

It is so difficult to pick an order for showing these shots. I love the black and white ones - we don't see enough of them these days. The feel of the place is beautifully conveyed. William Mills, Willie, is out of the top flight of landscape photographers. He is the assistant secretary of the Mid Calder Camera Club and we are privileged that he has let us use them in our blog site. I wish I could take shots half as good as these. Click on the title to this post for more of his photographs on Flickr. On there he has a rich variety of wild life shots and even portraits.

Lovely little Cuil Bay, Appin, near Glencoe by John W

Cuil Bay is a delight. It faces South all the way down Loch Linnhe towards Oban. It is about ten minutes' drive from Glencoe in the famous Appin country. The hills of Morven in the distance, Westwards.

Garbh Bheinn in November by John W

Lovely, wonderful mountain this, not visited often, yet quite accessible by the little Corran Ferry. It is not a Munroe, that's why.
Just known to a few insiders.
This looks West from Kentallen hamlet

The old Quarries by John W

Even the old quarries above Ballachulish have a tourist appeal these days.

GLENCOE PHOTOGAPHS by John W

These early photographs are from my own library, just to get us started. JW
